The Spartans will have to show continued improvement this coming week as they travel across the country to take on nationally ranked St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday.
2 Bellarmine Prep San Jose 1-1 2
Leading just 14-6 at halftime, Bellarmine scored 27 points in the second half to beat San Leandro 41-6 for its first win of the year. Quarterback Travis McHugh had three rushing touchdowns and a touchdown pass in the win. Next up is Piedmont Hills on Friday.
3 Del Oro Loomis 3-1 4
The running game of Del Oro may be among the best in the region spearheaded by Nick O’Sullivan and Brandon Monroe behind a tough offensive line. Monroe had 190 yards and three touchdowns while O’Sullivan had 156 yards with two scores in a 49-29 win over Oak Ridge. The top ranked team from the Sacramento area will play Oakmont on Friday to end the non-league.
4 Lincoln Stockton 4-0 6
Justin Davis is quickly becoming a household name in Northern California as one of the top players in the 2013 class. He rushed for 269 yards and four touchdowns in the Trojans’ 56-20 win over Grant with an 88 yard score in the third quarter. Lincoln has now gone 4-0 through a tough non-league schedule, which ends on Friday against No. 20 St. Mary’s-Stockton.
5 Pleasant Grove Elk Grove 3-1 7
The Eagles had six different players score rushing touchdowns in a dominating 77-7 win over McNair behind 147 yards three touchdowns from Mark Jenkins. Pleasant Grove has outscored its last two opponents 140-15 going into its final non-league game against Roseville on Friday.
6 Junipero Serra San Mateo 3-0 10
The Padres needed overtime, but remained perfect through non-league in beating Encinal 34-28. Junior Eric Redwood had 143 yards and a touchdown for Serra, which will be idle this week before playing St. Francis-Mountain View to open up WCAL play.
7 Grant Sacramento 2-2 3
Quarterback Isaiah Rios was forced into action after Shaq Thompson was ruled out of the Lincoln game late on Friday as the Pacers lost 56-20 to drop to 2-2. He threw three first half touchdowns, but Grant was shutout in the second half as the game went to a running clock. Grant is idle this week.
8 Nevada Union Grass Valley 4-0 11
Nevada Union was up on Chico 19-14 after three quarters before pulling ahead late to win 32-21 on Saturday night. Conner Fuller had 11 tackles and a sack for the Miners defense. They will try to carry a 5-0 record into the SFL as it hosts Elk Grove on Friday to end the non-league.
9 California San Ramon 3-0 12
Kevin Farley was very efficient at quarterback in California’s 45-14 win over Castro Valley. He went 10-for-12 for 158 yards and three touchdowns, including two to Armani Washington. The Grizzlies have won 15 straight non-De La Salle games dating back to last year. They are idle this week and will open up EBAL play against Foothill-Pleasanton on September 30.
10 Cardinal Newman Santa Rosa 3-0 16
Stock Rising: The dual threat play of quarterback Matt Sullivan continues to add versatility to the Cardinals’ offense after beating Valley Christian-San Jose 35-28. Sullivan had 144 rushing yards and 189 passing yards on 11-for-15 passing. Cardinal Newman now sits at 3-0 going into a road game at No. 14 Palma.

It was a double loss for Valley Christian-San Jose this past week in losing to Cardinal Newman 35-28 and seeing star running back Byron Marshall leave the game with a shoulder injury. Jarrod Lawson picked up the offensive production with 211 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. Next up is another home game against No. 18 Vacaville on Friday.
12 Folsom Folsom 3-1 13
Tanner Trosin threw for 601 yards and five touchdowns and Folsom needed every yard in a 49-46 win over Deer Valley for a third straight victory. The 601 yards in a Northern California record, according to CalHiSports. The Bulldogs are idle this week before returning to action against Casa Roble on September 30.

San Ramon Valley was idle this week. The Wolves will return to action on Friday against Washington-Fremont.
14 Palma Salinas 2-0 15
Palma trailed St. Joseph-Santa Maria 10-0 at halftime, but got two third quarter rushing touchdowns from Jack Myers to pull out the 14-10 win and run its record to 2-0. Myers finished with 81 yards on 16 carries as the Chieftains now turn their attention to Cardinal Newman on Friday.

The Thunder had little trouble with Lodi in posting a 42-7 win and move to 4-0 on the year. Buhach Colony has now outscored its opponents 166-29 and has won 14straight regular season games. It is idle this week before playing Clovis East to end the month.
16 Pittsburg Pittsburg 3-0 18
Pittsburg used the ground game to remain perfect on the regular season in defeating previously ranked Monte Vita 38-21. Feo Vuniopola had 216 yards and two touchdowns while Mister Cotton had 195 yards and two scores. The Pirates will take on Berkeley this Friday.
17 Marin Catholic Kentfield 3-0 NR
Stock Rising: Marin Catholic moves into the rankings thanks to a 35-27 win over Berkeley and Vacaville’s win over Granite Bay. Junior quarterback Jared Goff surpassed 300 yards with three touchdowns in the win over the Yellowjackets as the Wildcats finishing non-league play 3-0. They host Novato on Saturday.
18 Vacaville Vacaville 2-1 NR
Stock Rising: Junior Curtis Goins rushed for 147 yards and four touchdowns as Vacaville got a big bounce back performance to knock off previous No. 5 Granite Bay 38-27. The win puts the Bulldogs in the Top 20 for the first time this year as they now take a 2-1 record into another Top 20 match-up at No. 11 Valley Christian-San Jose on Friday.

Stock Falling: Granite Bay led 24-14 in the first half before eventually falling to Vacaville 38-27 to fall in the rankings to No. 18. Arik Bird had 127 rushing yards and a touchdown and blocked a punt for a score. The Grizzlies are on bye this week before taking on Pittsburg at the end of the month.

Stock Falling: St. Mary’s-Stockton was shut out at home in losing to No. 1 De La Salle 35-0 to drop to 1-2 on the year. The Rams trailed 21-0 at halftime before the game went to a running clock in the fourth quarter. It doesn’t get any easier this week as St. Mary’s takes on rival Lincoln-Stockton Friday night.
