The Bulldogs racked up nearly 600 yards on offense and 161 in penalties, but it was a key defensive play that turned the tide and allowed them to knock the Wolverines from the ranks of the unbeaten.

Despite allowing 240 first-half yards to Vacaville (4-1), Deer Valley led 20-19 with 1:42 remaining in the first half. The Wolverines appeared content to run out the clock, but Lamontay Marshall fumbled at his own 25-yard line, and Justin Garner recovered for the Bulldogs.

Six plays later, Quincy Forte scored the first of his three touchdowns, and Hudson Buck ran in the two-point conversion to make it 27-20 Vacaville at the break.

The momentum carried into the second half, with Vacaville holding Deer Valley (4-1) to minus-9 yards of total offense in third quarter while pushing the lead to 41-20.
