Schupp an emerging sleeper - NorCal Preps

Standing at 6-foot-6 and 235 pounds, Vacaville defensive lineman Johnny Schupp is a player who draws attention from the time he walks on the field. With football skills to go with his size, he has received interest from a wide array of programs while still looking for his first offer.
The Vacaville defensive end has received heavy interest from Fresno State, Marshall and Albany with Utah, Harvard, Stanford, Navy, Air Force, Washington and Merchant Marine Academy being other schools recruiting him. One potential reason for a lack of early offers was Schupp only participating in a Fresno State team camp. He was a standout in his lone showing though.
"I want to go to a college that has intense practices to make to better," Schupp said on what he was looking for. "I push myself as far as I can go when I workout."
Also a decorated heavyweight wrestler in finishing 5th in the state last year, Schupp sees many advantages doing both sports.
"Cardio definitely," Schupp said of how wrestling has helped. "We are always running hills and in strength training in the summer building strength and stamina." He also added football has given him an extra burst on the mat.
Still, his passion is to play football in college and impressed in an early season viewing against Marin Catholic. He has a very good projectable frame with some explosion off the ball and plays with a good motor. If he can add strength, his game should really open up.
Stay tuned for more on Schupp the rest of the fall.
