Nor-Cal Preps - Vacaville vs Napa

October 7, 2010
#9 Vacaville (4-1) vs. Napa (5-0) at Memorial Stadium 7:30 PM: Vacaville has played a difficult schedule thus far and has wins over Granite Bay and Deer Valley on its resume. The running game is clicking with Quincy Forte and Melvin Mason, who combined for more than 270 yards against Deer Valley this past week. Having dealt with its share of injuries last year, Napa has responded with a 5-0 start with three games of 40 or more points. The Indians utilize two quarterbacks on offense in Zack Sims and returner Cody Thompson. It will be a great atmosphere at Memorial Stadium that could be ripe for an upset. However, I'll go with the more tested Bulldogs to take this early league game. Vacaville wins 35-28

Indians hope to address penalty issue during bye week; Vacaville next

MARTY JAMES - Napa Valley Register

Troy Mott left Dodd Stadium at Justin-Siena High School late Friday with a lot on his mind.

The head football coach of the 5-0 Napa High Indians — who outscored their five nonleague opponents 192-34 — was looking forward to seeing the film of his team’s 44-7 win over Antioch and examining why officials called Napa for 16 penalties. The flags resulted in 140 yards against the Indians, who went into the game listed No. 15 in the CalHiSports.com CI...

The Bulldogs racked up nearly 600 yards on offense and 161 in penalties, but it was a key defensive play that turned the tide and allowed them to knock the Wolverines from the ranks of the unbeaten.

Despite allowing 240 first-half yards to Vacaville (4-1), Deer Valley led 20-19 with 1:42 remaining in the first half. The Wolverines appeared content to run out the cl...

Valley Christian football coach Mike Machado couldn't have been more pleased with the first month of the season. His Warriors, after outscoring three formidable foes 131-7, moved all the way to No. 8 in the state rankings.
