Napa (3-2) at #10 Vacaville (4-1) 7:30 PM: Though it is the opening week for the MEL, this is the de facto championship game featuring teams who have section championship seasons in their past. Napa is 3-2 after ending the non-league with a 40-35 loss to Antioch two weeks ago. Indians' quarterback Zack Sims threw for more than 300 yards and three touchdowns in the loss to Antioch. It will face a Vacaville team which is churning up rushing yards at as good a clip as almost anyone in Northern California. Melvin Mason and Curtis Goins play well off of each other while the defense has shown improvement from an early season game against Marin Catholic. Vacaville has won two in a row in this series and expect them to make it three on Friday. Vacaville wins 42-21
