Granite Bay vs Vacaville - from The Reporter.com
The Bulldogs continue their arduous nonleague schedule against the powerhouse Grizzlies (3-0), who are averaging 40 points a game, and blasted Clovis East 42-3 last week.
Vacaville (1-1) lost to Marin Catholic 33-29 last week. Wildcats quarterback Jared Goff threw for 230 yards, 215 to Ryan Farney.
Now the Bulldogs go up against Grizzlies quarterback Brendan Keeney, who has thrown for 539 yards and 10 TDs already.
"We're looking forward to it," Vacaville head coach Mike Papadopoulos said. "They are as good as billed, with a very good senior quarterback. Last week, (Marin Catholic) exposed some of our weaknesses. Hopefully, we've attended to those.
"One of the great things about playing this tough a schedule is that you can immediately tell what you need to work on. It was obvious last week what we need to clean up."
Despite the overall struggles, Jesse Kassis added an interception and a fumble recovery for the Bulldogs last week.
On offense, Melvin Mason and Curtis Goins rushed for 223 and 186 yards, respectively.
Vacaville dominated Granite Bay 47-23 last year.
