A steady downpour proved to be no problem for Folsom’s prolific passing offense.

The Bulldogs scored 11 touchdowns on 12 possessions in the first half, while holding Vacaville to three first downs in working up a 75-0 halftime lead. The Bulldogs went on to win 75-6 in a convincing victory.

“I knew we were ready, but this was just a phenomenal performance from our defense,” Folsom coach Kris Richardson said. “I watched seven or eight Vacaville games on film and they are a good team, but for us to play this well in this kind of weather was incredible. Anyone who thought we couldn’t play in the rain ... I think we were pretty darn good tonight.”

Vacaville forced Folsom to punt at the end of their first possession, but Folsom scored every possession the rest of the half. Dano Graves completed 16-of-22 passes for 327 yards and five touchdown passes, two apiece to Jordan Richards and Tyler Trosin and one to Kori Babineaux. Graves also rushed eight times for 51 yards for three touchdowns, while Richards and Trosin also scored rushing touchdowns.

Folsom’s other score came when Carson McMurtrey recovered a loose ball in the end zone following a poor snap on a Vacaville punt.

As it turns out, Vacaville, whose potent ground game seemed to be a nice fit with the wet weather, had more trouble with the rain than Folsom did.

Vacaville had three fumbles in the first half with recoveries to Yuvraaj Madra, Ben Trujillo and Trevor Jones, a blocked punt by Burton De Koning and the bad snap on a punt that led to McMurtrey’s score. They had no first downs in the first quarter, compared to five touchdowns by Folsom. Vacaville also had seven possessions in the first half that ended with three plays and a punt.

“We just blew up every play at the line of scrimmage,” Folsom senior linebacker Marcus Hendricks said. “I didn’t think we’d beat them like this. It’s bizarre. Our offense played surprisingly well in the rain. This game was just a lot easier than I thought it would be.”

Folsom (11-1) will travel to Buhach Colony in Atwater next Friday in the Division II section semifinals. Buhach Colony defeated Rosemont, 56-14. St. Mary’s will face Grant in the other semifinal.
